Bob's message to his constituents

When I first began my tenure with the Ulster County Legislature in January 1996, I had a vision of what I wanted to accomplish. During my past six terms as your representative in the Ulster County Legislature, I have been fortunate to help people at a personal level. Whether it was working diligently to secure traffic signs and lights to helping a severely handicapped individual receive transportation to a job she refused to give up, I have been very fortunate to help people at a personal level. Being able to help has proven to be extremely rewarding for me, and most often these accomplishments did not come easy. I take great pride in that I am an independent person who is not easily swayed and always have the best interest of our community in mind.

While spending and budgets are crucial and provide necessary services, If all I did was balance a budget without finding ways to improve the condition of people’s lives, then a balanced budget would become the emblem of hypocrisy. There are times when government has to do more than make the books come out, while still keeping in mind that people don’t want higher property taxes, I don’t want these new taxes and quite honestly nobody wants new taxes. My obligation is to the people I serve, all the people I serve.

I look forward to serving as your representative again in the Ulster County Legislature, and I vow to fight hard for my constituents, keeping in mind the best interests and needs of our community. I can only continue to do this with a successful election this coming November, and I would greatly appreciate your support once again.
